A Historic Occasion: Aston Villa’s 150th Anniversary
On January 10, 2025, Aston Villa celebrated their 150th anniversary in style with an impressive win against West Ham in a historic FA fixture.
Even though West Ham dominated the first half of the game scoring 1 goal, Aston Villa quickly bounced back securing their victory with a final score of 2-1. This event marked a significant milestone not only for the football club but also for its community partners, including Aston University.
Our Global Study UK team had the privilege of joining Ross Wainwright, Centre Director at ONCAMPUS Aston, to witness this remarkable event. The occasion served as a celebration of our shared success in bringing international education closer to students worldwide. Together with the ONCAMPUS Aston team, including two students – one of whom is a proud Global Study UK alumnus – we embraced the collaborative spirit that drives our partnership.
Our team of six colleagues, representing various departments such as Student Engagement, Quality Control, Finance, and Marketing, highlighted the multidimensional efforts required to support student success. This gathering emphasised the strength of our partnership with Cambridge Education Group (CEG) and our shared commitment to empowering international students in their academic journeys!

A Memorable Reunion with a Global Study UK Alumnus
One of the highlights of the evening at Villa Park’s legendary match, was meeting Abdallah Elhachach – a Global Study UK alumnus who recently completed his International Foundation Programme at ONCAMPUS Aston.
Abdallah began his journey with us in 2023, applying from Lebanon with a dream to become a Mechanical Engineer. After excelling in his Foundation in Engineering and Physical Sciences, he has now progressed to the first year of the Mechanical Engineering degree at Aston University.
Abdallah’s success story is a perfect example of the transformative opportunities made possible through our partnership with ONCAMPUS Aston.
